Family Science ExperienceThis science camp for middle-school students and their families was started in July 2011. Volunteers guide students through inquiry-based, hands-on activities for two days. Family members of students attend the evening of the second day, learning with and from their students. In the future, this will be implemented as a monthly science experience and dinner in which students and their families explore hands-on science together, while learning several basic science concepts in a fun, interactive atmosphere.
Nano Med SchoolNano Med School is program where a Washington University faculty member gives a seminar to SLPS students and their families, with dinner provided. The idea of the Wash U’s Mini Med School and Nano Med School programs is to make medicine more accessible to everyone.
